Brief Bio: B.A., 1970, University of South Florida, Speech/Broadcasting
M.A., 1990, University of Houston -- Clear Lake, Higher Education
Mr. Ferreira has more than 20 years of television production experience, including 5 years with NASA television (1981-1986). His other television experience includes commercial and educational broadcast, as well as medical and other academic programming. Mr. Ferreira began teaching on a college level in 1968, lecturing on television production for classes in media production for the College of Education at the University of South Florida. His career at Houston Community College began in January of 1989, teaching Communications classes part-time at the Westchester campus. He was hired as a full-time instructor in August of 1989.
Mr. Ferreira’s current assignment is Professor of Speech for the Southwest College.
Mr. Ferreira also teaches Communications classes at the University of Houston – Clear Lake.
Mr. Ferreira is also a volunteer docent at Space Center Houston where he acts as a Space Shuttle Greeter on Saturdays showing visitors the flight deck of the Space Shuttle and describing its inner workings.
Mr. Ferreira is married to the former Karen Valentine. Karen is a Licensed Family Therapist, and Head Counselor at a Clear Creek ISD school.
