Developmental Reading 0339-0340 Development Reading 0341-0342 College and Career 1270 ESOL 0345

Greetings!

Short Bio:I am from Houston, Texas and graduated from Texas Southern University with a B.S. Degree in Psychology,  and  also have  received a MEd,EA - Mid-Management Master's  Degree  from Prairie View A & M University.Currently, I serve as  the Testing Coordinator at  the West Loop Campus and also as a  part-time Adjunct Professor.  I have taught at HCCS for the last  five years and still counting in the Developmental Program  and University of Houston, Language &  Cultural Center. So as you see, my true passion is teaching!

The advise I give to first year  students is,  "YOU CAN DO IT"! Then  about two years later, I kid you not,  I'm writing scholarship letters for students who are now attending Baylor University, University of Houston, University of Neveda,University of Texas, etc. It's amazing how one can transform from a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly with superb knowledge.

Well now, how is it possible for a butterfly  to cultivate outstanding knowledge? It's possible because my classes are  enormously filled with active learning and critical thinking methods. In the meantime, I will only give you a little peek about what take place in my classes. In reading 0341 /0342 , the students work  collaboratively  to enhance a variety of reading skills  with active class discussions and participation . Also groups are then guided to prepare for a book club and lively debates. Whereas students will choose a topic to present and debate to a live audience other than their classmates. WOW! What a challenge.. Furthermore,  for those who are new to the U.S. your fun starts in Reading 0339, 0340, and ESOL 0345. You will actually have the opportunity to work with other classmates who are not from your country. What a great learning tool! Each class is  accompany by group work, applied reading skills, speaking and listening, and presentations about an appointed country which includes information about the  demographics, clothing,  education, politics, transportation and of course  finger licking international cusine that we all love, a variety of speciality foods. Um, I can smell the aroma... O.K.  what about College and Career ? This class is  hands on.  You will learn how to write a cover letter, resume, practice mock interviews, comminication skills,  research jobs, analyze real case studies,  complete degree plans, go on field trips, and  most importantly work with a real live counselor. What an outstanding experience!

My personal motto: An inquisitive mind is one who succeeds.
