Kathy Kelley has been a full-time counselor faculty member at Houston Community College since 1987. She has eight years of combined experience as the Lead Counselor and the Counseling Department Chair. Twice she was the president of the Houston Licensed Professional Counselor Association and has served as an active board member of that organization for more than eleven years. In addition she is a board member of J/CCSPAT (Junior and Community College Student Personnel Association of Texas).
Kathy attended two community colleges. Prior to attending Eastern Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education with a minor in art from Eastern Michigan University. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Houston in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Counseling. After the completion of her master’s degree, she passed the state licensing exam and became an LPC – Licensed Professional Counselor. Kathy maintained a private practice for a couple of years specializing in working with survivors of violent crimes.
Kathy also teaches GUST 1370, the Student Success and Career class. She specializes in career information and time management.
Kathy lives in Sugar Land with her husband, Wayde, and her cat Raphael. In her spare time Kathy likes to read, take pictures, garden, and makes jewelry. She also likes to travel and attend cultural events.
