Short Bio

  • Julieta Ruppert  holds an M.A in International Politics from Tulane University, which she attended on a Fulbright Scholarship under the auspices of LASPAU.  Her undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Social Work from Ceara State University, Brazil.  While at Ceara she also earned her certification in English as a Second Language. She has taught in the Intensive English Program in Houston since 1992 and has been assistant chair for the evening program. Mrs. Ruppert has developed and directed student-teacher exchange programs with Brazil and Mexico as well as community outreach programs for  international students. Over the years she has presented at national, regional, and local TESOL. She has lived abroad, traveled widely, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Mrs. Ruppert is the founder and of the HCC-SW Faculty-Student Exchange Program with UNIVATES, a university in  southern Brazil and in 2006 she was invited to lecture in three universities in that region. Outside of work, she enjoys listening to music, reading novels and poetry, and taking long walks on the beach.
