Short Narrative

Proposal Due 3/18/2008 - This should be a good solid paragraph at a minimum. A couple of sentences will not do for this item!

 

Story Boards and Shot Sheet Due 3/18/2008

 

Raw Footage Due 4/15/2008

 

Final Edit Due 4/29/2008

 

This project must be turned in on a DVD with an iDVD interactive menu.

 

Create a video piece in DV or MiniDV format. Do not shoot analog format for this project as it will make capturing your media to the computer very very very difficult. If you shoot other than the recommended formats you will loose device control when capturing.

 

You must  make it in the form of a short Narrative Piece that tells a story. That means  this is not  a news package, a testimonial, commercial,  music video ,  and not reality  tv. This is a mini movie that tells a  story clearly.

 

Each student will create their own concept and edit their own video using FCP.

 

The piece should be no shorter than 3:00 and no longer than 8:00.

 

This piece must be shot on digital video and edited on Final Cut Pro.

 

You must use at least three sound track: music, narration or dialogue, sound fx if you are doing the short narrative –

 

You must make at least 16 edits in this project.

You must use at least 6 transitions in this project.(the transitions do not all have to be of a different type- but use at least three of a different type.)

You must use at least 1 still/freeze frame in this project.

You must have an opening title.

You must have a closing graphic or credits.

You must use fast or slow motion in a meaningful way.

You must shoot your own original footage for this project.

Your Audio levels must be of good quality.

Quality of Concept

Organic Unity (how all the elements mesh in order to support the concept).

Audio Quality

Key Frames Use

Titles and Credits

Follows Project Directions
