The Exchange Assignment
RTVB 2430 – Assignment – “The Exchange”
The purpose of this assignment is to shoot some basic footage that tells the story of a deal gone bad. Think of spies and the exchange of information for cash.
The idea is too simply illustrate 2 people (spies) making a deal. One [spy 1] has money and wants information the other [spy 2] has information and wants money! Thus the two must meet and exchange the information for the money.
Required Shot List:
Establishing Shot of Location
Medium – spy 1 walks into frame stops looks around and continues to walk in same direction out of frame.
Medium – spy 2 walks into frame from opposite direction than spy 1 stops looks around and continues to walk in same direction out of frame.
OTS Spy 1- spy 2 walks into the frame with back to camera – spy 2 walks toward spy
OTS Spy 2- spy 2 is already in frame with back to camera and is walking toward spy 1 – spy 1 walks toward spy 2. (be careful to keep continuity correct from shot 3 to shot 4!).
Medium – spy 1 and spy 2 meet and stop approximately 4 feet apart.
Close – Face of spy 1
Close – Face of spy 2
Med Close – Spy 2 gestures to spy 1 to show the cash.
Med Close – Spy 1 shows the cash.
Med – the spies exchange the cash and the information and walk out of frame from the original directions from which they entered.
Students are to work in groups of 2 or 3 to shoot the footage for this exercise. The scenario may be changed to something other than spies if the required shot list is still satisfied. Eg. It could be a hostage scenario or something similar in nature. Each member of each group is required to do their own edit (version) using the groups footage. You may add additional shots to your project as long as the shots forward the story.
No dialog is to be used you must tell the story visually. You may add music and sound effects if you are bold and have the skills to do so.
You must email a list of the team members in your group to the instructor harold.scott@hccs.edu by the end of class tonight 8/29/2007
You must turn in a concept statement, story boards, and a shot sheet at the beginning of class 9/6/2007
You must bring the raw footage to class on 9/13/2007
