Hosting Exercise

Each student is to find three web hosting companies and give details of a plan that they offer that holds at least 200 mb of data. Create a web page that has a table on it that lists the hosting plans detail categories on the left side of the table and the three names of the hosts accross the top of the table (see example on board in class). Do not use images on the page that you create.

The types of data to compare are:

1. Operating System of hosting server.

2. Features the hosting plan supports. (examples of this could be php, mysql, asp, jsp, coldfusion, shooping cart, web etc...)

3. Monthly bandwidth limit.

5. Storage space provided to upload files to.

6. Does it offer subdomains?

7. Is there a CGI bin you have access to?

8. Does it support multimedia - if so what formats are supported?

9. What is the name of the plan.

10. What is the url of the hosting company?

11. List other details that are important to compare in hosts.

12. Information on web stats that it tracks.

13. Which CMSs (content management systems) does it support or provide?

14. Cost per month?

15. Other fees?

This exercise is due: February 2/27/2008  8 PM - post html document to a web server and email url to the instructor  harold.scott@hccs.edu between 7PM and 8PM the night of class!
