Discovery Assignment 1
Each person in the class is to create an electronic document with 15 questions that they would ask a new web client to find out what that client would like for a new web site.
These questions should be different in ways from the ones that their class piers turn in (this is not a group assignment = think for yourself).
These questions are to help define the look, the feel, the style, the functions, the objectives, the user demographics, the purpose / mission of the website, the content, the security, the technologies to be used, the client expectations, the client responsibilities, designer responsibilities, the project timeline, and other overall details that are needed.
Areas that I tend to address in discovery often fall under the following: Purpose and Audience, Design and Structure, Technical Requirements, Maintenance, Web Hosting.
The idea is that we web designers / developers are not psychic mind readers, thus we need information from our clients that details what meets their web presence needs.
The Discovery Document is the tool we use to collect this needed data.
Be detail oriented when you create your questions.
Next week the instructor will lead a class exercise to create a discovery document that will be used for the class group project..
This assignment is due on a web server 1/23/2008 6:00 pm. Email the url of the page to the instructor at harold.scott@hccs.edu In the subject area of the email put "Discovery 1 Your Name, Capstone ".
