Emily Akin

Ms. Akin has more than 30 years experience as a reporter, primarily in broadcast news.
Her work includes 10 years in Houston as KPRC's Consumer Reporter/Akin’s Army where she won Houston Press Club's Reporter of the Year in 1999. Before her move to Houston, Ms. Akin worked at WPLG-TV in Miami and KOB-TV in Albuquerque. Her radio experience includes local news and National Public Radio in New Mexico, New Hampshire and Vermont. She has covered stories ranging from small-town politics to big-city disasters.
She currently reports for the Houston Chronicle, teaches journalism and does voice-over and on-camera work for commercials and industrial videos.
