determined as follows:

Final Exam 25%

Textbook: You are required to buy the
following textbook for this course: Fundamentals of English Grammar
(third edition) by Betty Azar. NO USED BOOKS!
Attendance: If you miss 8 or more
hours, you will be dropped from the course. If you are fifteen minutes late to
class (or more), you will be marked absent. Missing lab or being late to lab
will also count as being absent.
Tardiness: An accumulation of three
tardies will count as an absence.
Withdrawals: A student may drop this
course for any reason up to April 3rd at 4:30 p.m. A student may
also be dropped for excessive absences until that date. After April 3, 2008, a
student will receive the grade that she/he has earned. College policy prohibits
instructors from entering a grade of "W" after the official drop
date.
Dictionaries: You may use a dictionary in
this class. However, you may not use it on tests or quizzes.
Makeup Tests: If you are absent on the
day of a test, you will be able to make it up on the following class day. You
may only make up ONE test during the semester.
Homework and Handouts: I will give you a lot of homework
and handouts in this class. Please have a place where you can keep all of your
grammar materials together. Homework is due at the BEGINNING of class. When you
come to class, place your homework in the location I will show. I will not
accept late homework or homework I see you doing in class.
Academic Honesty/Cheating: Any form of copying,
cheating, or plagiarism will result in a 0 for the assignment. See the HCCS

Students with Disabilities: HCCS Policies: Any student
with a documented disability (e.g. physical, learning, psychiatric, vision,
hearing, etc.) who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact the
Disability Services Office at the respective college at the beginning of each
semester. Students at Gulfton should contact Dr. Becky Hauri, at 713-718-7909.
Sexual Harassment Policy: Sexual harassment in any
form is not tolerated at Houston Community College. See the HCCS Student
Handbook for further information.
Repeating

tuition/fee increases at HCC and other Texas public colleges and universities.
If you are considering course withdrawal because you are not earning passing
grades, confer with your instructor/counselor as early as possible about your
study habits, reading and writing homework, test-taking skills, attendance,
course participation, and opportunities for tutoring or other assistance that
might be available.
