Biography

Amy E. Harris Tan is a full time faculty member at Southwest College.  Since 1999, she has taught a variety of courses, ranging from composition to literature at HCCS, the University of Houston, and the University of St. Thomas.  Dr. Tan recently completed her dissertation at the University of Houston and graduated with her PhD in English and American Literature, with an emphasis on the Victorian Period, the Development of the Novel, and Gender Studies.  Dr. Tan completed her MA at UH and her BA at the University of St. Thomas.  She has spoken about her research to the Gender Studies Club.  For more information on the Gender Studies Club, please contact her at amy.tan@hccs.edu or Marie Dybala at marie.dybala@hccs.edu.  Dr. Tan is a native Houstonian along with her husband and her four daughters.  When she is not reading, you can catch her playing soccer and spending time with her family.

http://swc2.hccs.edu/e-tutor/ for 24/7 access to assistance with papers; a
live-online English tutor seven days a week from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.; scheduled
chats about many aspects of the writing process; and answers to
questions about vocabulary, cultural context of readings in any area,
grammar puzzlements, or other language issues.
