Student Evaluations
SEOI's (Student Evaluation of Instruction)
Problem questions at SW:
-
The instructor asks test questions that deal with the material that is covered in the course. (clearly state at the beginning of the course what your goals/objectives are. Let them know where their questions are coming from--book, lecture notes, assignments, etc..)
-
My grades are an indication of my learning. (Everyone wants and "A", but students should know what earning a certain grade would entail. Test the material that you covered in class)
-
The instructor treats students with respect. (obviously)
-
The instructor grades impartially. (have students write name on the back of exams and explain to them that this helps ensure impartiality. Explain to students that the scantron machine does not keep track of names. Be consistent)
-
The instructor gives me timely feedback on grades work. (explain at the beginning of the semester what your grade turn-around time will be. It should be no longer than a week)
-
The instructor explains appropriate safety procedures for this lab/clinical. (read safety instructions to students at the beginning of the class and demonstrate location of safety shower and eye wash areas. Review lab rules and regulations)
-
I would recommend this instructor to other students.
