Course Descriptions

GEOG 1301 PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY

Basic physical elements of geography, maps,

weather and climate, and natural resources.

 

GEOG 1302 CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY

A survey of the cultural diversity found on earth.

Topics include population, language,religion,

ethnicity, and popular culture, with a special focus on

spatial attributes and expressions of culture.

(This is a core curriculum course.)

 

GEOG 1303 WORLD, REGIONAL AND

LOCAL GEOGRAPHY

Study of major world regions with emphasis

on prevailing conditions and developments.

Including emerging conditions and trends,

and awareness of diversity of ideas and practices

to be found in these regions. Core Curriculum Course.

 

GEOG 2312 ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY

Analytical study of the historical development of particular

economic distributions as they relate to social, cultural,

political, and physical factors. Includes critical inquiry into

the reasons for location of various types of economic activity,

production, and marketing. Cross-listed with ECON 2311.
